Kukke Subramanya temple is situated in the village called Subramanya, in Karnataka, India. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva created Kartikeya to destroy the demon Taraka. So Kartikeya is worshipped as Subramanya in this temple. The story goes as Vasuki the serpent king was performing atonement for many years in the caves of Kukke Subramanya to avoid attack from Garuda. Later, the lord gave him the boon and since then, Vasuki and Lord Subramanya are worshipped together.
Mainly, two important Poojas are performed in this temple which are Ashlesha Bali Pooja & Sarpa Samskara. Ashlesha Bali Puja is performed for Kaalasarpa dosha. It is performed on Aslesha nakshatra every month. Another pooja is Sarpa Samskara which is performed to get rid of the sarpa dosha.
